WIJordanfirst-lady-working-smallMother Jordan is the eldest daughter of the five children born to Frank and Elnora Joy in Eutawville, South Carolina.  She is a proud graduate of the Orangeburg County school system, located in Holly Hill, South Carolina.

Irene’s religious experience began at the tender age of eight when her family began attending Johnson Temple, COGIC.  There she listened to the fiery preached word, diligently attended Sunday school, YPWW and was very active in youth activities.

Young Wilhelmenia attended South Carolina State College.  After graduating from school she moved to Morristown, New Jersey and became a member of the Church of God in Christ under the leadership of the late Bishop Keith.  In Morristown, she continued to be very active in the church and her passion for being a servant of the Lord waxed stronger.

Wilhelmenia Joy eventually moved to the Washington, DC area and became a member at the Refreshing Spring COGIC, which was under the dynamic leadership of Pastor Archie D. Headen.  At “the Spring” she continued to grow in the Lord and participated in multiple activities and auxiliaries.

One Sunday evening in YPWW she shared bibles with a young minister named James E. Jordan, Jr. and because of his persistence they very soon became a couple. The two love birds got married on October 30, 1965.  Happily married for forty-six years, First Lady Jordan relishes her roles as wife, mother, grandmother, ministry leader, prayer partner and whatever else the Lord finds for her to do.  Refreshing Spring is a blessed church to have this woman with the heart of God serving as an angel in this house.
